Welcome to PCLA! Pacific Coast Language Academy is the product of four years of arduous planning. The School's Directors are both educators with a combined total of thirty years of teaching experience on a foundation of fifteen years of related education and professional training. We are committed to maintaining a culturally diverse student population, consistent with the Canadian mosaic, and as a means of building bridges between our community and our school. In accordance with the Private Post-Secondary Education Act, training or instruction will be delivered through fully qualified and experienced instructors utilizing written, audio and video materials and computer programs, a text-based curriculum and ongoing assessment. Our goal is to provide professional academic and communicative language instruction for global communication. At the same time, we are committed to promoting relevant and meaningful cultural exchanges between international students and members of our community. We will accomplish the same through our Volunteer Program and projects run in conjunction with local businesses and community organizations which will provide an invaluable opportunity for everyone involved. Our students will have access to personal, academic and career counselling at all times. Students wanting to work or volunteer in Canada will benefit from our "Work in Vancouver" program; a network of businesses in Vancouver also committed to giving international students the opportunity to be a part of a unique and rewarding work experience. Our "Free Weekly Activities" and other programs will undoubtedly enrich your Canadian experience. Our Homestay families are interviewed and carefully selected by the Directors to ensure their suitability so that your language skills and cultural awareness will increase significantly with this total immersion into Canadian society.
